Resident Evil 2 Remake Now Has Witcher Thanks to New Mod as a Playable Character

Bringing the iconic witcher to one of the best installments of Resident Evil.

There are lots of great games that get strong modding support, but Resident Evil 2 Remake is one of the most popular ones. The community has come out in drones to put its unique spin on different aspects, especially the main protagonists and the unstoppable Mr. X.
So far we've seen a lot of versions coming and going. There has recently been a mod from The Witcher 3 that replaces Claire Redfield for Ciri. Some thought it was only right to add Geralt. Ask and you'll get The modder Wiwilz has delivered again, bringing the iconic witcher to one of the best installments of Resident Evil to date.
He replaced Leon and is the perfect addition despite the late success of the Netflix series and The Witcher 3. Let's take some time to break down this concept of character. Right off the bat, that's true to the video game series we've played. He sports his iconic white hair in the back, with deadly steel and silver swords. The silver sword, if you remember, is meant for monster-hunting while the steel sword is reserved for human combat. In an esthetic sense, Geralt crosses all boxes off.

Now let's get into the mechanics of his fight. The blades can not, unfortunately, be used in actual combat. They're only part of his costume, as he — just like Leon — has to rely on weapons.
That may seem like a big issue but looking back is pretty easy. Going through Resident Evil 2 Remake with handguns is already a difficult experience, so it seems like an unlikely proposition just to use swords.
Theoretically, you might try to do it with only one knife through the Raccoon Police Station, but that is definitely a disaster recipe. Unlike the new Ciri mod, Geralt has facial animations. Overall, seeing what Wiwilz was able to achieve is pretty unbelievable. It is mods like this that keep the resident Evil 2 remake community going large.

Looking forward to a new change often gives fans unique experiences they can't get elsewhere. Who knows which other character changes will emerge in the months to come? What's obvious is that commercially this game has performed so well. The sales are still going strong, which certainly bodes well for Capcom as they are working diligently on the Resident Evil 3 remake. Being a fan of this storied franchise is a good time to be. Let's just see what mods are coming out next.
