Apple has a profit margin of around 40%. And that's why you'll pay only $400/£500 for a phone when you purchase a Xiaomi phone that would normally cost you the good part of $1000/£1000 if you purchased it through Apple or Samsung. It is a killer business model that has been helped Xiaomi in explosive growth over the years.
But what exactly is life like with Xiaomi mobile devices?
Are Xiaomi phones as good as the iPhone of Apple? Or the Galaxy and Note phones of Samsung? If you get a new smartphone, it is an investment, so you just want to make a wise decision–that's the no.1 reason that most people want to go with Apple and Samsung. Customers know the brand and their preferences (great performance and high prices) are clear. There are also typically no surprises-iPhones and Samsung phones tend to work just like the ones that came before them.
We'll send you a detailed breakdown of the PROS and CONS of buying and using Xiaomi phones in this review article. Eventually, you will be able to decide whether a Xiaomi smartphone is perfect for you. I spent a long time using Xiaomi smartphones as my daily driver in preparation for this piece so what follows is basically my 2 ¢ on what life is like with these incredibly cheap Chinese flagship devices.
Here are the PROS of Buying or Using of Xiaomi SmartPhones.
- Xiaomi Mobile devices Are Extremely Cheap to buy
Xiaomi's No.1 marketing trick is the aggressive price; it defeats everyone on price. Even these brands such as OnePlus & OPPO. it does this by ensuring very-thin margins on its smartphone sales–on every phone, it sells it makes just 5 percent profit. And that's the far too small profit margin for the world's Apple and Samsung.
Because of the materials they use, it's not the reason their smartphones are cheap; they are cheap because of the way Xiaomi designed its business. For best or even worse, that's something to which Xiaomi is now dedicated, so that you can expect low prices to be something that will stay along for decades to come–it's basically his No.1 marketing strategy.
Xiaomi smartphones look fantastic from a design point of view and have all the properties you would usually associate with a top Android flagship line–all-screen OLED displays, nice edges, great build quality, and good curves. You are getting expansive OLED screens, rear-facing triple-lens cameras, and nice-looking software
From a design point of view.
to the untrained eye, there is absolutely no difference between, say, the Samsung Galaxy S20 and the newly minted Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro-both look like great flagship smartphones. you will only pay between 2/3rds less for buying it with the Xiaomi phone (no more than $400/£399.99).
That nobody wanted to pay $1000/£1000 for a smartphone, or even for OLED displays and cameras with triple lenses. Xiaomi knew that and he basically built a whole business around it. For example, Xiaomi Mi 9 is now 12 months old. But with specifications like that, at least for another 18 to 24 months, it will be a good everyday driver.

- You Could Root Xiaomi smartphones With Voiding The Warranty
although Xiaomi could not even careless. Not only will it gladly let you root your Xiaomi smartphone, but it'll also not revoke the warranty given to the phone. It makes Xiaomi smartphones a perfect choice for everyone who wants to play around with Android modifications. Basically, you can do whatever you want, and keep your warranty safe.
CONS of Buying or Using Xiaomi Smartphones.
Alright, we have done the good stuff. Now let's turn attention to the negatives associated with owning a Xiaomi smartphone and using it.
For years Google, Apple, Samsung, and Huawei have been making smartphone UXs. They are experienced and skilled and know what they are doing exactly. They have decades of work experience to fall back on and testing. In this context, Xiaomi is just a little different; the Chinese market is the only real experience, and it's completely different from Western industries like the United States and the United Kingdom.
For that reason, MIUI of Xiaomi can take it a bit of getting used to –even if you are an experienced mobile journalist. By rooting the smartphone and installing a fresh new Android 10 build on it via a ROM, you can, of course, solve this issue completely. However, if you are a newbie you could stuck in the Google Play Store because of MIUI or a third-party UX.
MIUI is not really bad, but it is not well balanced and optimized as stock Android UX of google or Samsung's UX. For me, it's one of the major disadvantages of using a Xiaomi smartphone. As you get on the Pixel smartphones, I prefer pure Android, UXs like MIUI just feels too busy for my preferences. I like the simple design and minimalist bloat ware and MIUI seems like the exact opposite.
Through adjusting the settings in the Security App–set it to NO RESTRICTIONS–you can get around this, but really, if we are really truthful, nobody should have to do this. The mobile should also be set up to handle RAM effectively that do not have a negative impact on mobile use. However, what is the point of even having 4 GB of RAM if you only let your smartphone use 1.5 GB? Nothing. Xiaomi needs to address this on upcoming mobile devices because it is one of the No.1 very common complaints about its smartphones.
CONS of Buying or Using Xiaomi Smartphones.
Alright, we have done the good stuff. Now let's turn attention to the negatives associated with owning a Xiaomi smartphone and using it.
- Overheating Problems
the Biggest and most-cited problems with Xiaomi smartphones are about overheating. Go to the internet-literally any where-and you will find prove that Xiaomi users have overheating problems with their smartphones. And it's not particular to any model within Xiaomi's range of smartphones–it's almost sporadic and random.
There are various theories about how to fix Xiaomi overheating smartphones, ranging from removing the (weird) Google Play Store to rooting the smartphone and installing a fresh new ROM. Overheating phones are not a JOKE anyway. They might blast. And that no one ever wants this. If you have a Xiaomi phone this is one of the No.1 things you should watch out for.
- The software may Contain Bugs

- Bad RAM Usage
Xiaomi smartphones come with a lot of RAM. But perhaps the way Xiaomi smartphones handle RAM leaves A LOT to be desired, especially if you are using a 4 GB RAM or less Xiaomi smartphone. Essentially, Xiaomi smartphones like a bit too much RAM conservation and also the overall result of this is that apps close down when you move away from them. So this type of phone sucks.
- The most common issues are the battery
An Another problem affecting Xiaomi smartphones is their battery; after a few months of use, you will either get excessive battery drain or poor battery performance. This issue is not particularly common, but if you buy a Xiaomi phone, it is something you should be aware of.
One of the main issues behind the excessive problem of battery drain is about how the mobile jumps from network to network. One way to solve this is by making sure that both SIM slots on the phone are locked to ONE mobile data type (basically turning off Dual 4 G, and choosing LTE for the SIM you use).
If you have a defected battery, then you will need to get a replace it's battery, like some users do.
- Android updates can get messy
you are always a little worried about Android updates when you are running an Android smartphone. In particular, you are worried about whether your Android smartphone will actually get the latest update. Xiaomi smartphones are too good at getting updates of Android, so that's good. However, where the problems begins when you start running the latest Android variant.
Over the years, I've used a few Xiaomi smartphones each one has a raft of bugs every time when a new Android update were released, ranging from battery drain issues to crashing glitches and applications. Searching around the internet, it does not seem like a lot of things have changed in 2019/20, so that's certainly something you should be aware of. Nobody wants to use a mobile which is full of bugs...
that's all...
Fine, you have read my PROS and CONS about running a Xiaomi smartphone. Which I have tried to be as fair as possible, citing the advantages as they are and the disadvantages that I have found with Xiaomi smartphones during my time. My present feeling about Xiaomi is still positive based on all of these above.
